Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the All industries workforce in the Eastern Region in 2021shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (97,713 local workers or 25.2%)
  • Managers (52,038 local workers or 13.4%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (50,412 local workers or 13.0%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 200,163 people in total or 51.7% of the All industries local workers.

In comparison, Victoria employed 25.0% as Professionals; 14.0% as Managers and 12.4% as Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the workforce in the Eastern Region and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of local workers employed as Sales Workers (9.5% compared to 8.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local workers employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (4.9% compared to 5.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of local workers employed as Labourers (8.0% compared to 8.8%)
  • A larger percentage of local workers employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (13.0% compared to 12.4%)
