Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Hobart City in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($1,124million or 14.8%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($1,015million or 13.3%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($976million or 12.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $3,115 million in total or 40.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Hobart City.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 25.2% in Construction; 5.5% in Financial and Insurance Services and 5.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the Hobart City and Tasmania were:
