Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Hobart City in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($1,690 million or 36.5%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($551 million or 11.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($366 million or 7.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,608 million in total or 56.4% of the total imports by industry in the the Hobart City.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 29.7% in Manufacturing; 5.5% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 8.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
