Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Sydney in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Financial and Insurance Services (62,458 million or 39.0%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (32,759 million or 20.5%)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (16,901 million or 10.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 112,118 million in total or 70.0% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Sydney.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 13.1% in Financial and Insurance Services; 9.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 7.0% in Information Media and Telecommunications.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Sydney and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (39.0% compared to 13.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (1.5% compared to 16.3%)
