An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Greater Sydney in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($66,639million or 11.7%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services ($40,560million or 7.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $235,430 million in total or 41.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the Greater Sydney.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 22.9% in Construction; 9.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 6.4% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services.

The major differences between local sales by industries of Greater Sydney and New South Wales were:
