Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Perth in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($6,821 million or 40.8%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($2,154 million or 12.9%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($1,097 million or 6.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $10,072 million in total or 60.3% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Perth.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Western Australia accounted for 31.1% in Manufacturing; 5.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 8.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Perth and Western Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (40.8% compared to 31.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (5.0% compared to 13.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (12.9% compared to 5.9%)
