Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Sunshine Coast in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,611 million or 17.1%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (1,106 million or 11.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (970 million or 10.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 3,687 million in total or 39.1% of the total exports by industry in the Sunshine Coast.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 15.5% in Manufacturing; 2.7% in Financial and Insurance Services and 3.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Sunshine Coast and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (7.9% compared to 35.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (11.7% compared to 2.7%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (10.3% compared to 3.9%)
