Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in RDA Tropical North in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($6,434 million or 35.5%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($1,876 million or 10.4%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($1,728 million or 9.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $10,037 million in total or 55.4% of the total imports by industry in the RDA Tropical North.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.3% in Manufacturing; 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services and 7.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of RDA Tropical North and Queensland were:
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (4.6% compared to 9.1%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (35.5% compared to 33.3%)
