Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the South East Queensland in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (38,431 million or 23.0%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (20,710 million or 12.4%)
- Public Administration and Safety (14,012 million or 8.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 73,153 million in total or 43.8% of the total exports by industry in the the South East Queensland.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 15.5% in Manufacturing; 8.0% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 5.3% in Public Administration and Safety.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the South East Queensland and Queensland were:
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (5.4% compared to 35.4%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (23.0% compared to 15.5%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2.7% compared to 7.1%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (12.4% compared to 8.0%)
Emerging groups
The total total exports by industry in the South East Queensland $increased by 13,223 million between 2018/19 and 2023/24.
The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2018/19 and 2023/24 in the South East Queensland were for:
- Public Administration and Safety (+$4,456 million)
- Manufacturing (+$3,682 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$3,055 million)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+$2,729 million)
