Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Ballarat in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($2,236 million or 36.8%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($619 million or 10.2%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($551 million or 9.1%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $3,406 million in total or 56.1% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Ballarat.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Victoria accounted for 33.0% in Manufacturing; 8.0% in Financial and Insurance Services and 5.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Ballarat and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (9.1% compared to 5.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (36.8% compared to 33.0%)
