Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the City of Adelaide in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($3,341 million or 41.6%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($1,034 million or 12.9%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($521 million or 6.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $4,896 million in total or 61.0% of the total imports by industry in the the City of Adelaide.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 30.9% in Manufacturing; 6.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 7.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the City of Adelaide and South Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (41.6% compared to 30.9%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (12.9% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (1.1% compared to 7.8%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (0.6% compared to 5.8%)
